Er.... who was talking freedom? We were talking about safety of police officers. Go figure.
No, you were pushing an argument that banning guns reduces deaths. The standard LW anti-gun meme. You know, the same LW anti-gun meme that inflates US gun deaths with suicides, which effectively doubles your numbers.
So, tell me, are these statistics true?
List of countries by intentional homicide rate - Wikipedia
US murder rate - 3.9
UK - 0.9
Germany - 0.9
France - 1.2
Denmark - 1.0
Australia - 1.0
Hong Kong - 0.9
Japan - 0.3
Luxembourg - 0.7
Holland - 0.7
South Korea - 0.7
So, anything not true here?
List of countries by firearm-related death rate - Wikipedia
US firearm homicide rate - 3.43
UK - 0.06
Germany - 0.07
France - 0.21
Denmark - 0.22
Australia - 0.16
Hong Kong - 0.0
Japan - 0.0
Luxembourg - 0.0
Holland - 0.29
South Korea - 0.02

Also, I'm not suggesting that not that simply banning guns automatically does something. I did show that 6 police officers were killed in the line of duty in the last 6 years, compared to the US's 795 police officers killed in the line of duty (with the UK's rate of 30 being the equivalent of the US's per capita).
The point I made was that police officers in the US do a far more dangerous job. It makes them more edgy when they come up against criminals, it makes them more likely to die, and the reason for it is guns in society and other factors, though guns in society is one of the main factors.
You can do the whole "it's a LW meme" as a way of trying to say that something isn't true while you're not willing to back up your claim, but it doesn't work with me, because I'm willing to go out there and get the evidence for what I'm saying, and I'm not willing to say things that are simply black and white. I know it's not just guns, there are major problems in US society that aren't getting fixed and there doesn't seem to be a desire to get them fixed. People prefer populism to reality.
