JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (KALB/Gray News) - A Louisiana man was attacked by an alligator during an investigation into driving while intoxicated, according to Louisiana State Police.

State troopers were called to reports of a Toyota driving recklessly on I-10 in Jefferson Parish on Sunday.

According to police, the car hit a concrete barrier and blew a tire.

Troopers found the car headed south on I-310 in St. Charles Parish and stopped it. The driver, Victor M. Rivas, allegedly showed signs of impairment and ran from the stop. Troopers said he jumped from the interstate into the swamp below.

Deputies from St. Charles Parish and troopers said they found Rivas walking along Highway 10, but when they approached, he allegedly went back into the swamp.

Rivas was then attacked by an alligator, sustaining injuries to both arms. Officers said he was still trying to run from law enforcement but was eventually found with help from a drone.

He was taken to a hospital for his injuries.

I guess the gater was in the mood for some Mexican food. ;)

The cops down here have more than fur missiles…...They have toothy scaled torpedoes.

His American name is now Amos.

The police should use alligators instead of dogs.
