You are missing out. I have a picture of a girl sitting beside me and it looks like she is frowning, live picture shows her laughing before I snapped the picture. It really shows how a picture can look entirely different and portray something different.

It's only about 2 seconds anyway.

With Live Photo, that's easy to prove wrong. That's what makes it awesome. The brief 2 seconds of a live photo triggers memories photo's alone can't.

Maybe I'm being silly, but I think this is the greatest thing to happen to USMB in....maybe ever.

I remember asking about using an animated gif for an avatar years ago.

(I'm not sure about this one I just uploaded, it's a little choppy, but it's something for now)

uh, no, actually after that last update, it was Ropey who revealed to me that gifs are now allowed as avatars, and can thus be displayed.

Then petro had one for a few days.

I only needed to refresh my preferred avi page, as it had always been a gif. We have just not had the option to display them.

Now we do. I can't say I care much either way TBH.

I saw ropey had one that was animated, so I gave it a try and retired Bill Murray.
Seems to have caught on.
