Make no mistake, gators can run faster than you for around 30 feet.
They have to stop to pivot, though, so what you do is cut and then cut again.

There's a giant 3 legged alligator that lives at Habitat Golf Course in Malabar, FL I give him a wide berth. Besides, an alligator hazard is a free drop.
