When I first heard it, I almost wanted to say it sounded like a wind instrument something like a harmonica but I was sure it had to be something else. I'm familiar with a lot of instruments like the tabla, the ghatam, the tambura, shruti box, veena, venu, nadaswaram, etc., but this sounded different.
