We have excellent scrubbers on our coal plants.

London (CNN Business) Millions of people across Europe may not be able to afford to heat their homes this winter as gas and electricity prices soar.
Experts, anti-poverty organizations and environmental campaigners are warning that the coronavirus pandemic and rising prices have intensified a longstanding problem tied to a combination of high energy costs, low household incomes and homes that aren't energy efficient.

Yeah, Germany shut down coal plants last year (2021) for a few weeks, then had to reopen them a few weeks later. Worse still, President Putin has them by the sort and curlies thanks to President Biden allowing Russia to complete the gas pipeline.

Now the EU is pushing to label nuclear and natural gas as GREEN ENERGY.

Who knows, maybe the US will catch up.

Here the choice is between high (or even very high) energy prices and a very likely rebellion with the abandonment of the idea of decarbonization or temporary (until 2045) tolerance for nuclear energy and gas and pretend that they are green energy sources. And hoping that in the future humanity will create technologies that allow using only renewable sources.
