I am a collector of WWII German militaria. In the search for these collectibles, I have developed a passion for reading German memoirs, and learning about the German way of thinking, how he fought, what he thought was honorable, and right, what he ate, when he slept, what his feelings were like during a battle. I developed the conclusion, that the vast majority of the German Heer (army) were just like our American soldiers. They had families, they wanted to be a patriot for their country, etc. I can respect that. I am a huge respecter of German fighting men (not the SS, Einsatzgruppen, or Polizei), like the Heer, Luftwaffe and Kreigsmarine.



However, I am a firm believer that Adolf Hitler was a sick, twisted, insane and evil man, who drug millions of innocents into war, and slaughtered millions more. So he was anti-communist. Big deal! He still killed millions! He was a racist who got pleasure from the numbers of the dead that he ordered to die.

I respect the Germans as a fighting force, but I will never, ever respect a man so brutally evil as Adolf Hitler.

The occupation of Eastern Europe went on until the 1990s, spies and terrorists were everywhere well into the 1980s, and the Berlin wall came down in 1989. The space race, Cuban Missile Crisis, etc. all happened after Stalin.
