FEMA DISASTER RELIEF FUND, specifically is funded by Congress and PROTECTED under law from being used for anything other than the Natural Disaster Relief it is meant for....

Another part of FEMA and their tasks can not raid from the disaster relief funds, to fund their FEMA projects.

The other money FEMA uses for all the other things they do, is also separately funded by Congress....and has no relation to the FEMA disaster relief fund.

in 2011 we were flooded out and a Disaster was called. EVERY person got $1000 for which we were grateful at the time; four in the household but two were independent. That was it; no help from the Government and frankly when they did show up a week later they were no longer remotely required. normal Council services like rubbish collection kicked it; TOTAL LOCAL Community effort. We'd already done what was needed including helping the neighbours....BIGLY. It is what you did. A week later; it was repair time. After we dried out the house we really only needed to replace the carpets and a few bits and pieces.

We were out of Brisbane by a hundred miles; down there they had a "mud army" where the unaffected just showed up and were alotted help clean up/bring your chainsaw or mop duties. The Army and SES were brilliant where needed though of course the SES were nearly all volunteers anyway.

Nothing easy about it and the way assholes in the US are dismissing the hardships of those affected folk is frankly disgusting. BTW; it was Mayorkas who said that Fema was not going to last the Hurricane Season. Nothing to do with Trump!!
