...to realize the accuracy of that label for Powell.

His endorsement of Obama is understandable; he had differences with both McCain and Romney, and was quite probably also tugged to some extent by the historic racial component of the Obama candidacy and Presidency.

His endorsement of Shrillary is also understandable; by far-and-away, the lesser of two very great evils.
