Why should they do it again? And again? And again? While Israel violates the ceasefires and keeps attacking.
What do you want the Palestinians to do?
Palestinian supporters have a peculiar virus which infects nearly all of them, which causes them to ignore or minimize the initial event in a series of responses and to entirely reject Palestinian complicity. I'll give you a few examples:
Innocent Palestinians sitting around doing nothing suddenly get attacked by Israeli tanks and soldiers, six Palestinians killed as Israel breaks ceasefire.
Innocent Palestinians visiting the Al-Aqsa Mosque are suddenly controlled by Israel because Israel put up metal detectors and prevented them from accessing the mosque.
Innocent farmers just planting watermelons near a fence are suddenly shot at by Israelis.
Innocent fishermen just out for a pleasure cruise at night in Israeli-infested waters, are suddenly shot at by Israeli forces.
See where I'm going with all this? The narrative played by the Palestinians is that they are innocent of any wrong-doing and are being attacked. The narrative is that the Palestinians have no responsibility for any of the conflict.
That narrative is not factual. Let's fill in the blanks, intentionally left out in the examples above:
Palestinians were building tunnels into Israel, believed, correctly, to be used for kidnapping soldiers (as they had kidnapped Gilad Shalit). There is no peaceful use for tunnels (not that I can't conceive of one, but never one that the Palestinians have used. (THAT was the initial breach of the ceasefire).
Palestinians murdered two people from within the Al-Aqsa / Temple Mount compound.
Palestinians 'fishermen' smuggle weapons into Gaza.
Palestinians approach the fence, sometimes, in order to shoot at and kill Israelis.
Now you can argue all you want that Palestinians have a right to smuggle weapons, shoot and kill Israelis and build tunnels, and strap on suicide bombs and stab people.
But telling narratives that leave out Palestinian complicity is disingenuous.
