Not that we really needed the reminder, but it sure does look like polling companies either need a new approach or a new fuckin' profession.
Here's a thought: As I've pointed out elsewhere, poet Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel." Has there ever been a more appropriate description of the American electorate?
If I were one of these pollsters, I would consider focusing on the mindset of the electorate. Anger, fear, frustration, comfort, satisfaction. I'd try to find a way to gauge that through questions, because it sure looks like asking people to name names ain't working.
