I’ve been saying this forever and nobody pays attention to me.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is on a crusade to expunge religious expression from the public square, and the group gets the meaning of "separation of church and state," a phrase that appears nowhere in the Constitution, all wrong.

The phrase "separation of church and state" in fact appears nowhere in the Constitution but in a letter Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1802 to a group of Danbury Baptists assuring them that the First Amendment prohibited Congress from establishing a national church, such as the Church of England.

If you have real freedom of religion, then Sharia Law should be allowed in the US.

Freedom from religion would make more sense.

Freedom from religion is not in the COTUS.
But neither is giving religious people special rights like they have now.
Seems like both groups are ignorant on the Constitution.

Sharia Law is a political - not religious - system. And, most important of all - it opposes the US Constitution. It has no place in this country.

Christian beliefs being written into law are equally political to sharia law. They are equally opposed to the US constitution.

Sharia is a central tenet of Islam. Islam should be allowed in the US. then so should Sharia.

That would be unconstitutional. Unless this new SCOTUS gives the fundies all their wishes for “religious freedoms.”

It says people can use sharia law or Christian equivalent? I think not.

The law allows people to enter into contractual Sharia agreements as long as they do not violate the law. The proof is two fold: nowhere can anyone show under the law they can't, and this has been happening in Muslim American communities for a long time.

1st Amendment gives freedom of religion.

And from religion.
Playing with words. You're free to practice or not practice your religion.
And to be free from the state pushing it on you in the public space.
No one is pushing it on you in the public space. No one is forcing you to go to church or read a bible or pray. How ridiculous.
. . . because we have put a foot in the face, legally and legislatively and judicially, of those who want to do those things to us. Every time they try it, the foot in the face gets bigger. No.

Whatever in the wide wide world of sports that means.................No one wants to force you to attend church, read a bible or pray.
