Heart braking. Putin and the Moscow (Moksha) people are 100% responsible for this. Stand up against murders like this.

How many kids do you suppose our bombs killed? Do you feel any responsibility?

What is Putin getting out of this mayhem?
The average life expectancy for a Russian male is 68.25 years, and Putin is already 69 so it is likely he is thinking about his legacy. In a recent speech, he compared himself to Peter the Great, who is credited with creating the Russian empire in the 18th century, and Putin said he is doing the same thing Peter did, but he can't do this as long as NATO stands strong and united in his way. From the beginning of the invasion, Putin cited the expansion of NATO as a principal reason for the war, and while NATO poses no threat to Russia's security it does prevent the expansion of the Russian empire.

So what does Putin hope to get out of all this mayhem? The best outcome for Putin would be for Europe to buckle and break over energy shortages this winter to the point of supporting a "peace" agreement that would allow Russia to keep parts of Ukraine and end he sanctions, which would so significantly weaken NATO that it would open the door to further Russian conquests not only in Ukraine but also in eastern Europe and the Balkans.

If this happens, Putin would be seen as a legendary Russian hero but if Europe stands strong this winter, then Putin would be seen as the man who led Russia into a long period of decline into poverty and relative insignificance in the world.

I don't really care.

War is hell and we are not directly and should not be involved in this war.

So, what makes this a different war that we should care about more than the Yemeni Civil War, Nagorno Karabokh war, Libya Civil War, the Tigray Conflict, the current Persian Gulf crises,...

Or maybe it has more to do with covering up your Biden's involvement in Ukraine.
The new war party - the communist left/democrats.

What is Biden getting out of it?
Clearly, no as much as he might have hoped since his approval ratings continue to circle the drain, but the policy Biden is implementing is consistent with US policy since the end of WWII and every president since then has opposed Russa's westward expansion.

In 2008 and 2014 the US also imposed sanctions on Russia for its invasions of Georgia and Ukraine, but France and Germany prevented Europe from following the US lead, but when President Trump, outraged by the fact that only five NATO members were complying with their treaty obligations, threatened to pull out of NATO all these deadbeat European nations with the exception of Germany paid up, and that so strengthened NATO and the US leadership role in Europe that when Putin invaded Ukraine again, that Biden was able to bring Europe along with him in supplying weapons to Ukraine and weakening Russia with sanctions. Thanks to President Trump, Biden is able to more successfully implement long standing US policy with regard to Russia's westward expansion.
