Former Ford CEO says automakers 'went full bore' into making EVs without thinking about the consumer

Tesla is great. They have a $35K car now. They have TECH off the charts. For those commuting short, around town, rich with garage and charger. Go for it.

Unless you're a complete imbecile like OP because one guy at Tesla worked at DOGE to cut GOVT waste? What a tree ape the OP is.
Magat

No, we don't NEED to go to "clean fuel." The fuel we use today is fine. Someday, undoubtedly, we will move away from gasoline and diesel vehicles, but that can happen in the natural order as science progresses. It doesn't need to be forced because this is what happens when you try to force a market that doesn't have a natural demand.

And who might that be, tribalist?
Mindless Magat dribble...

So you have no argument.

Glad we cleared that up.

You and your climate cult have a nice day.
Says the cult of the mindless Magats. The trump cult is determined to prove the world is flat...again. trump and his racist, Nazi loving young repubs want to return to the days of separate bathrooms for whites and blacks. He yearns for the good old days when his dad could deny an apartment for a black person and get away with it.

Now, with the trump doj, he can once again tell Bondi to forget about enforcing Fair Housing laws. The repub party applauds.

"Over the last couple of years, the automakers really went full bore in putting in capacity for EVs," Fields, 64, told CNBC's "Power Lunch."

"They really didn't have a good discussion on the consumer, in terms of what it was going to take to get the consumer to buy these EV products," Fields said.

Representatives for Fields did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

Fields started his career at Ford in 1989 after graduating with an MBA from Harvard Business School. He held a variety of senior leadership positions at Ford, and was the company's chief operating officer from 2012 to 2014 and its CEO from 2014 to 2017.

Some of the big bets automakers made on EVs have come undone "over the last 18 months or so," Fields told CNBC.

Maybe that is because we elected a man who wants to return to the good old days of the 50's where coal is king and then the man who owns the premiere EV company is the US turned out to be a Moron. Many of us would buy a Tesla if not for the man who owns the company. Thanks to Musk and trump, China will be the one who leads the world in clean energy, while trump promote coal and drilling.
Nice spin, Jim

But shouting LOOK OVER THERE! wont work

The automakers stupidity was driven by leftwing green environmentalists not Trump and the MAGAs

The Green Scam is nothing but money laundering back to DNC. All the way to 09' Solyndra, to now defunct battery companies. They get $10-$100 million. The company "donates "to DNC, goes bankrupt, sells equipment and site for 10% cost and runs away. Same with Obiden unions like SEIU or even UAW. Funded thru the housing bust. Kickback city.//

It's because greentards thought they could force people to buy EVs they didn't want by bribing automakers to build EVs and forcing them to stop building internal combustion cars.

Then buy another brand of electric car. When or if they get good enough, they will naturally displace ICE cars just like ICE cars displaced steam and electric cars in the early 20th century. Market forces will rule.

And China continues to increase coal mining and use of coal to produce electricity.

We need to go to clean fuel. But the Mafia Boss in Chief wants to prop coal up. Your grandchildren and great grandchildren will pay for the Ignorant POS YOU elected.
Green energy is moving ahead regardless of Trump's criticisms. The energy market has a mind of its own, as do most.

Hybrids were and are the best intermediate solution. Thankfully car makers and consumers understand this. Even hybrids can be improved by using natural gas as the go-to fossil fuel.
