Forecast Discussion: Rapid Cooling Ahead.. Its already started...

Re: Rapid Cooling Ahead.. Its already started...

That is indeed good news, seeing as the North Pole is now 50 deg above normal.

North Pole 'Unfreezes': Temps Rise 50 Degrees Above Normal

The North Pole "unfroze" today, experiencing a temperature high of upwards 40 degrees Fahrenheit, a temperature that's "unheard of" in the area during winter months, ... It’s usually minus 15 to minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit there at this time of year.

Yes, we can all appreciate this rapid cooling;

'Freak' Iceland weather bomb sets up Arctic for extreme heat

Depending on how this unusual Arctic "heat wave" develops, now that the storm has passed through Iceland and is in the process of dissipating, computer models are indicating that temperatures around 15-20 degrees C above normal could circulate around the Arctic Circle into the first week of January, and there's a risk of them lingering even longer

Ask northern Californians about global warming tonight!!!:coffee:

Temps in New York to hit mid-teens Mnday and Tuesday next week..........of course, all these bitter temperatures don't count to the AGW k00ks!!!:spinner:

You really dont know much about how the earths systems work do you? And just where are these fantasy temps? Even the Iceland folks recognize the polar low and cold air mass is so big that heat from the equator is necessary to balance the temperature loss. Thus wild swings of the polar jet and warmth being pulled to the poles. Did you miss that part of atmospheric phenomena and systematic thermal balance in your Atmospheric Physics Class?

You certainly missed it in "yours"

You are so gullible over their vague lies.

It never got above freezing the entire time "unfroze" claim fooled you easily.

The cooling phase of WHAT?

And, if you'd like to leave some hype crap at the door, grow some balls and admit to this audience that you do not have a degree in atmospheric physics.

Only matters what the public at large thinks :hello77:

They think climate alarmism a bunch of hooey. Everything else trivial in the discussion. Every poll of voter concerns since 2010 clear....global warming waaaaay down the bottom of the list of concerns.

sOn....you might as well be trying to market the game of cribbage to the public :iyfyus.jpg:

Shattered coldest night time records for this date. The old record was -1 set in 2002.. Tonight it was -12

The rapid decline continues..

One look at the global air mass and you can see how the La Niña is affecting the atmosphere and why cooling is going to remain the driver for the next few years.

The earths oceans have gone cold and are not adding heat to the atmosphere. The shift in downwelling solar radiation in the 0.2um bands to the 4.6um bands has caused a massive cool down in the heat the ocean uptakes from the sun. Dr. David Hathaway noted this shift in 2012 and we are now feeling the results of it.

As long as the suns output in the 0.2-0.6 um remains blunted, the earth will continue to cool.

LOL... average temp in winter -27 deg F... this means that temperature was still below freezing and was short lived.

Actually, this thread has aged well. The solar output shift was noted in 2012. The ocean buffer lasted about 9 years and it was estimated to last 10-12 years. Now we have seen what just a slight change in solar output at certain wavelengths can do to the earth's climate. A simple shift from the 0.2um - 0.6um to the 4.6um band changes the depth the energy can travel into earth's oceans. 500-700 meters vs 30 microns... It took time for the buffer to be expended and now that it is almost all gone cooling is rapid globally.

If the surface of the sun remains cool and the wavelength elongated the cooling will continue.

Here is graph of why this change is so important. 0.2-0.6 is where heat/energy penetrates to depth, outside of this range it is stopped at or near the oceans skin layer where evaporation takes place and is defeated. You get above 1.2um and it cannot penetrate the oceans. The move outside 4.6um makes it impossible to heat anything.

This is why we are cooling, and the ENSO is not recharging.

While TSI (Total Solar Irradiance) does not change and remains relatively constant, the shift in where that power is produced makes a significant difference in how our atmosphere and oceans can absorb it and use it.

Why would you bring in CONTEXT to the argument... My Gawd man you know they cant defend it... Cretan.. :p
