What Marx was talking about was ending the monarchies that ruled Europe at the time.
The socialism he was talking about were revolutions like the US and the French Revolution.

Some one who believes socialism requires central planning knows nothing about socialism.
Socialism is where people collaborate have more economic freedom.
That is because without collective capital, people become economic slaves to anyone who does have capital.
So socialism actually implies just more regulation, like laws against child labor, monopolies, etc.
The fact some things should be centralized, like Social Security, health care, interstate highway systems, railroads, etc., is not very common.
When socialism starts to fail is when more people STOP working because they can just sit there and do nothing and get an equal amount like the rest of the workers. (Notice how liberals always consider citizens workers?) This then breeds resentment, people will no longer go out of their way to make something as it is taken from them by the central government and doled out. Soon there is no one working and the government then goes full Communist and people are forced to work at the point of a gun or sent to Gulags to work and get reeducated. Every country that tried Socialism has eventually turned Communist. Idiots like you who dont study history are the dangerous traitors to this country.
