The claim that the 2nd protects all Arms from infringement is a canard! I support the right of every sane, sober and non law violator the right to own or possess a firearm to protect their business, home/property, family and person. That does not mean I support a ban on all forms of Arms/gun controls, or that I support the confiscation of all guns.

I support comprehensive background checks, the licensing of anyone who wants to own, possess or have in his or her custody and control a gun, and that all guns be registered to the owner/possessor of the firearm, that the owner be required to carry insurance for any tort, the product of the misuse of said gun, unless the weapon has previously been stolen and reported stolen to the local LE agency.

I support the suspension or revocation of a license to own, possess or have in one's custody and control for due cause, and that anyone convicted of a violent crime, stalking, domestic violence or making criminal threats be denied a license unless an appeal is made and the offender has been pardoned by the governor or received a certificate of rehabilitation.

And all those processes would be used to create a de facto ban, just like there is in NYC for handguns. The fees would be excessive, the waits excessive, and government would do everything possible to make the process as slow, agonizing, and confusing as possible.

In NYC I cannot even get a handgun for home use without paying $1000 in fees, and waiting 3-6 months while some bureaucratic hacks figure out if I am "worthy" of the honor of exercising my 2nd amendment rights.

Yet if you are a cop, or a retired cop, or part of the government, or wealthy enough to pay for an expediter, you can get your permit easy-peasy. Its cronyism at its best, something progressives like you LOVE, because it allows the rules to be applied to "me" and not to "thee".
