We have open carry here in Virginia and have for a long time. I personally don't see why anyone would want to do that, but I do see people carrying that way, so that's that. I've seen women and men carrying bags of groceries in the parking lot, not paying attention at all to what's around the, but I don't think they realize what a target they are making themselves. I see all bad and nothing good about open carry, unless maybe if you are hunting. If thugs will hit you in the head for your phone what do you think they will do for that big Smith hanging on your hip?

Hear here. We should bifurcate legality from prudence. Personally, if you want to do so, legally you should be able to do so in most public places.

it happens a LOT. Everyone thinks they're tuff, till they get punched in the mouth (or shot with their own gun).

Indeed. There is a reason PoPo have level One holsters. That happened too often.

Got some links of instances of civilian open carriers being disarmed and their guns used against them......not a cop who was effectuating an arrest got in a scuffle and was disarmed?

If youre in dangerous situation and open carry youre the first target. Never give up the element of surprise.

I have open carried at my lodge and community in Alaska. i have open carried on my boat.

There are places where it is entirely appropriate. To paint it as a liability based on widespread evidence of disarmament is not accurate.

Yes. Thats completely separate than the Galleria in Houston.
