Fla Becomes 23rd State To Acknowledge Payinbg Americans NOT to Work Is STUPID, Ends Socialist $300 Unemployment Benefit Boost

The title of this thread should be Republican Governors Compete Against One Another to Hurt Struggling Workers. There is absolutely no evidence that this is a incentive for people to refuse jobs. A recent Fed paper found very little correlation

"A new working paper by two researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco suggests that expanded unemployment benefit payments have not created a strong disincentive for workers to return to jobs. Specifically, they also found that the current $300 weekly federal unemployment benefit, which is available to jobless workers through September 6, has had only a small effect on the job-finding rate."

This is how Republicans run for President. They screw people who are struggling. Worth noting that the recipients are still required to look for jobs ans cannot refuse job offers or they will lose that benefit. These businesses are liars

Your definition of socialism is whatever you disagree with. There is nothing socialist about the extended benefits. There is nothing socialist about helping people. That was the standard line for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and every other program Republicans oppose. That is the standard Republican line for anything they disagree with. They cannot debate policy.

We are hurting for workers here in florida.....Zaxby's closes at 7 pm due to lack of workers and on most holidays and some other days without warning due to lack of workers. The WaWA gas station is offering a $500 sign on bonus...the local Dairy Queen closed their very very popular walk up windows do to a shortage of workers.......Walmart and Home Depot have cut back store hours do to a lack of workers...to name but a few. In the last couple of weeks, I have seen some of their workers return------------very expensive hair jobs and very fancy expensive manicures with fake nails along with sequenced shirts and new jewelry are very prevalent.

Perhaps Biden's strategy is paying Americans to stay home, give the jobs to the millions of illegals Biden is bringing in, then declare to the world Americans are lazy and the illegals are just taking the jobs 'Americans just won't do'.

Sadly, that is exactly what they are doing....americans don't want those jobs (when they are getting paid more to stay home.)

They aren't lazy - they have economic common sense, more that Joe and the Democrats.

Between spending over a year screaming "the system is racist and nothing is your fault", to "stay at home or you'll kill yourself and everyone else with the worst disease known to man", to "were going to give you extended medical benefits, free money every couple weeks and stimulus checks" they have created a large part of the population not wanting to work menial jobs.

Companies aren't desperate for positions that pay 45k a year or more. It's the lower paying jobs they are desperate for because those are the people that don't really want to work and have little potential in life. They finally have a reason to not do anything like they really want, and have been encouraged to do so both through the media and financially.

At this point it's people hurting themselves by not working as it should be. Life isn't fair (hasn't been for as long as life existed on the planet) and if you want to get anywhere you have to work for it.

A restaraunt near me I've been going to for decades has a host that is a guy with no legs in a wheelchair, he has been there for 9 or 10 years and still there now. If he can work then so can others.

Then it's time for these places to make their workplaces safes for the working people.

Are schools open in your area? How can parents go to work with no child care and no schools open?

You assumptions about poor people being unwilling to work simply shows your willingness to buy into right wing dogma which blames the poor for being poor.

That should really help Republican election chances in 2022.

Every where we go here in Florida we see Help Wanted signs.

Time the lazy sonofabitches got off welfare and go back to work.

Good for DeSantis for doing the right thing.

They should trying paying a living wage. $7.50 and even less for restaurant staff, isn't much incentive to work. Service staff are looking at warehouse work, and refusing to go back to restaurants for the wages offered.

If you don't want to make $7.50 an hr then stop being a worthless asshole and develop some marketable skills.

Restaurant staff gets tips. If you want to earn more then find a marketable skill that pays more.

Oh bullshit.
The Wife see's it as do others who run large companies.
When the employees refuse to return to work because they're making more sitting on their ass they are informed that their job is no longer open to them.
They changed their minds right quick when they were informed they would lose their medical coverage.
The Lady that owns the company is a huge philanthropist and worth a shit ton of money,as in billions.
She even went as far as continueing to pay their medical insurence while they were off when she didnt have to.
