As of August 2025, China's population is estimated to be approximately 1.478 billion people, making it the second most populous country in the world after India. The population has been experiencing a slight decline due to low birth rates and an aging demographic.
China's population is astronomically higher than that of any other country.
So, naturally, they've taken steps to reduce population growth, and even with a decline in birth rates, it's population will remain high for the foreseeable future.
I'm missing the logic here. You quote says China has the 2nd largest population in the world (1.478 Billion). India has
Then you say: "China's population is astronomically higher than that of any other country.".
That does not compute because India has the worlds largest population.
Then factor in land area:
- China = 3.7 square miles
- India = 1.27 square miles
Meaning population per square mile is lower in China.
