That's been my experience and observation as well. I'm not even going to pretend that there isn't any hateful people on the right, but in general they do tend to be a lot kinder and accepting. It's interesting because I saw this yesterday and it isn't the first time hearing this sort of story from people.

I have a buddy in Pittsburgh who is friends with one of Fetterman's exes. When he ran for Senate she told him he was really a closet conservative, but pushed the progressive mantra for political reasons given the area he was representing (he had been mayor of Braddock which is heavily Democratic and then Lt Gov under a progressive Democrat).

I don't think the stroke did anything. He represents a swing state and can now be himself.
