Or, in the real world, I see positives and negative on both sides of the argument and refuse to be pigeonholed by a random internet keyboard jockey into his/her/its narrow world view in which there can only be one of two pre-determined outcomes.

It just makes more sense to keep my nuanced opinion to myself than to bother trying to explain it to someone who will actively refuse to understand it.

I'm going to surprise you by saying the rich, famous and powerful get a lot of breaks we never will, and if you take on a lion, you'd better kill him. They didn't have enough to kill the lion. This is one reason why we don't know who all visited Epstein's island and what they did there. Anyone who talks will get the Hillary treatment and end up killing themselves.

The fact that the cases dissolved after TRUMP! won indicates they really didn't have a strong case and decided they probably couldn't win in court against a sitting president. Like it or not, a sitting president has a LOT of levers to pull and a LOT of advantages. Whether he should or not is a separate issue, but the reality is he does.

Most likely, they realized that continuing would just come across as political persecution instead of seeking justice and they couldn't actually win anything. And, of course, stopping him from getting back in the White House was the purpose of the whole agenda anyway, and since that failed, what use would be continuing if they would ultimately lose in disgrace?

Obviously, we have headlines, not sworn testimony. Prosecutors don't like to lose, and if you're going to take on a sitting president, you'd better have the strongest possible case.
