I dunno about that, if it had actually been some sort of sedition or coup attempt, it was certainly disappointing, disjointed, and inept. A few hours later, across the Columbia River in Vancouver, television crews captured footage of smoke pouring out of a ballot box at a transit centre. Vancouver is the biggest city in Washington's third congressional district, the site of what is expected to be one of the closest U.S. House races in the country, between first-term Democratic Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican challenger Joe Kent.

"I hope the perpetrator of this reprehensible act is quickly apprehended — and local and federal law enforcement have my full support in working to keep our democratic process safe and secure," Gluesenkamp Perez said in a statement.

We are a one-party State. No Republican wins a statewide office.
The only hint of party preference is the geographical area.
The date means nothing because it's 100% mail-in and there is no option for voting in person on election day.
We do not register voters by political party.
Our primaries are "top two" elections- there is no guarantee a republican will even be on the ballot.
Ballot returns are not reported by political party (since voters to not register by party).
Candidates are not even listed by party. Sometimes they say "prefers republican", or "prefers democrat".

"Early voting" is not even a distinction you can make in Washington- all voting is "early voting".

Washington towns ALSO have indoor ballot boxes. The voters know this and know they are taking a risk by being lazy and using the "convenient" outdoor ballot boxes.

If you wish to return your voted ballot in person on or before Election Day take it to:

Clark County Elections Office (1408 Franklin Street, Vancouver), available from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and 7 am to 8 pm on Election Day.

I don't know of any "indoor ballot boxes" other than the election office itself.

Virtually all of the ballots go though the mail.

There are a few official drop boxes setup by the county for people who don't want to use the mail. I have never heard of an indoor drop box anywhere.

It doesn't matter what I know or don't know. Though i know enough to know the vote in Washington is not 100% by mail. You can indeed vote in person, and the numbers of those who do not trust mail voting in Washington are mugh higher, among Republicans.
