Could somebody please tell me how drop boxes are secure in any way? They are invitations to tamper. No protection whatever. You'd have to be drunk to use one in a nutso area like Portland.

Or just plain lazy. These two largely blue and lawless states would figure to be the first for this to happen. And because we live in one of them we walked INTO our city hall in our town and dropped our ballots into the indoor ballot box. We received them on Thursday, the 17th and drove to the city hall on the 18th and dropped them off. City hall hours are from 8-5 and the ballot box is in a busy and guarded area.

Still, there are those hours at night when the city hall is closed and who knows who might be just lurking and waiting to pillage.
