Favorite PC Game

I don't play first person shooters or Realtime war games unless they are Hybrid and can be paused and turn based stuff in them. I do play DDO and many war games

Ever try this one?

Order of Battle: World War II || in 2 minutes

I have been interested in trying this one out for many many years. It was just never at a price point I could agree with.

It is on sale right now, or at least it was last week, for five bucks.

Good deal.

His Civilization games are some of my favs ...
I've been playing them since Civ II. My boy has played them since Civ IV.

. . . we have loved them.

We both agreed that the current crop of programmers ruined the series, neither of us are going to buy number seven.

Borderlands 4 currently. Since the large patch in December, and several subsequent ones after - the game is pretty solid now. Upon release it was glitchy as hell.
It is like other Borderlands, but graphics much higher and it is now open world. A recent patch greatly improved problems with how knowing where the hell you are supposed to be. It is intense, sometimes too intense. The enemies get harder before your guns get better. More than previous versions.

Currently playing Galactic Civilizations IV again.

I am in the middle of packing for moving, so I like using turn based games to pace my work.

So in this game, every time I complete researching a tech, I get up and pack for 2-3 minutes.

Ok... this game is too hard for me!!!

I just bought V, and damn if it's not a steep learning curve. I think it might be easier to actually rule a European country.
Yeah, true. I still shy away from V because I don´t want to study. And it is ugly on the screen. But some day I will do it.

I recently got War in Europe by Decision Games. It is DIRECT port from board game to computer game. It has no AI so you either play by email hotseat or play all sides yourself. I have had the game before and for years owned the board game. Just was too hard to play cause the maps were 6 feet by 9 feet when assembled. I love it I enjoy the production tracks and system.

It's been SO damn long since....! 😄

My stepfather is a computer scientist, and married my mom in '78. I had a PC in every house I've lived in since then, except for a short time in the early 2000's. First one we had was an Apple II. Later it was IBM or similar. Now my wife and I have two Windows 11 laptops. I haven't played any PC game since about 2010. Back then I had a naval strategy game or two, and a flight sim or two.

I never had a game console in my life and never really wanted one since computers for utility was always more important to me than games. I did download some old arcade style games for my PC back in the early 2000's....basically exact copies of the original games. Stuff like Gravitar and DigDug.

I rarely even use my laptop these days, and most games I play are Android games on my phone. I might go for months without playing sometimes, then just try something and get addicted for a few weeks and forget it just the same.

I was one of the original arcade junkies from the early 80's. Even though I had games I could play on my step dad's PC back then, I still spent way more time in the actual arcade. Then in the early 90's I started buying games to play at home, but never with the fervor for the real mall-based arcades.

About a decade or so ago I bought Crusader Kings II from Paradox, and that is precisely my analysis of it is well.

I have played some complex games, but the fact that such a complex game also was not turn based was a huge turn off.

I felt they needed to either cut down the complexity if they want it to be like an RTS, or make it turn based if they are to keep the complexity. I did not like how they organized the game at all.

I had a game for my 3DO back in the 90s called Panzer General that I probably played more than any other game. I completed ever mission and scenario on it, and later found out they ported it to the PlayStation, came out with a sequel and made a game called Allied General as well. I damn near bought that system just for that series.

Girls were far more important to me at that time though. . . lol.

I have this one in my Steam queue for when I get bored, it is free but each new campaign and scenario are DLCs for sale.

I read that it is the spiritual successor to Panzer General. . . When I get bored or feel that itch, I'm probably going to give it a try.

So I just noticed that 90% of the games from Hooded Horse studios are on sale this week. (on Steam.) This is a strategy publisher with excellent and addictive games.

I'd probably not even need to think about it or be tossed up on this decision, if Old World was one of the ones on sale.

These are two that I have been thinking about getting, and have been on the wish list for some time, both are now 70% off. Under ten bucks. I don't know which one to go with, what do you think?
