I am sitting here trying to remember a black rock group out of Detroit in the 1970s only did one album that is a classic and collectors item. This will pester to no end until I remember.
do you mean Death?....

Jimi Hendrix obviously. One of only two guitarists who can make me see light and colours when he plays. Just a creative force.

Death

Death is a garage rock and protopunk band formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1971 by brothers Bobby, David, and Dannis Hackney. The trio started out as a funk band but switched to rock after seeing a concert by The Who. Seeing Alice Cooper play was also an inspiration. Music critic Peter Margasak retrospectively wrote that David "pushed the group in a hard-rock direction that presaged punk, and while this certainly didn’t help them find a following in the mid-70s, today it makes them look like visionaries." They could possibly be considered one of the first punk bands in the world. The band broke up by 1977 but reformed in 2009 when the Drag City label released their 70s demos for the first time. ...more on Wikipedia

Clever Black Canadian with Tamla who pretended to be white .
R Dean Taylor , There's a Ghost in my House -- accompanied by Fred Astaire and Ensemble .
At times you could swear it is Leroy Stubbs from the Four Tops singing .
Maximum volume . Brilliant lyrics .
Lovely surprising intro .

Play it hundreds of times every year .

Yes , I know he was really white , but so what !!
It is one of those records dropped from heaven .
