The fatal crash last week involving a Tesla did take place while the vehicle was on autopilot, the company confirmed late Friday.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is still investigating the accident, which took place March 23 and killed the driver.

"In the moments before the collision, which occurred at 9:27 a.m. on Friday, March 23rd, Autopilot was engaged with the adaptive cruise control follow-distance set to minimum," Tesla said in a statement. "The driver had received several visual and one audible hands-on warning earlier in the drive and the driver's hands were not detected on the wheel for six seconds prior to the collision."

Walter Huang, 38, died in the accident when his Tesla Model X slammed into a barrier on the 101 Highway near Mountain View, California. Huang worked as an engineer at Apple.

Tesla car was on autopilot prior to fatal crash in California, company says

:eusa_think: DANG! :eek-52: Inside the car or outside the car. These Self-Driving /Auto-Pilot cars can score live kills. :dunno:

fyi: The other killed. ----- Hey! Cars don't kill people, FFS! Sure they do!
Self-Driving Uber Car Kills Pedestrian in Arizona, Where Robots Roam

btw: :rolleyes-41: I see a pattern here. If you're not driving these cars.
I assume you most be texting in these cars when they kill people.:itsok:

btw2: "Telsa said on Friday its autopilot "unequivocally makes the world safer for the vehicle occupants, pedestrians "and cyclists."
Well
.... :TH_WAY~113: First, they kill people walking in the street at night. For FUN! Then, they start killing their owners.
Wanting FREEDOM! Then, What?
Do they start killing for hire? Say for gas/electric money to make a living?

What a horrific crash. That happened close to where I live. :eek-52:
These battery fires seem to be more likely in crashes, as to gas car fires in crashes.
As gasoline needs a spark to start its fire, where these electric car batteries are a chemical reaction.

FYI... Can YOUR car get confused? FFS!?
What a Question to ask your self-driving car..

Nice to know, as these cars are self-driving they are mapping the road
details more and more for better understandings of the roads they drive.
And at some point, it's uploaded to a master street map. So when it rains and it can't clearly read the painted road lines. You may still get to your destination?
