He is not totally wrong - what means in your culture: He's nearly right. A nonsense is to say fro example anyone is lazy. I think the situation in the East of Germany - former GDR - is indeed much better than the people who live there think it is. Living costs are lower and the salaries are a little lower. The whole "East-West" discussion in Germany is more a kind of discussion about solidarity and authority. All over the world freedom suffers and the authoritarian behavior of governments grows. The strange thing: not so in Germany. I fear much too many people feel lost in freedom.

And now are election campaigns in Germany. Friedrich Merz made in this context the big mistake to try to solve problems with majorities under a wrong time pressure which are not only a question of majorite but have also some dimensions of conscience. To try to find out what's true and wrong under the pressure of an election campaign is not the very best.

A short time ago a 22 years old student had been frustrated that she got no chance to become a teacher in Bavaria. She was upset because of this lack of tolerance only because she is a Marxist.
