Um…did that really happen? And on Fox? Last night’s episode featured a “unique” story line where character Chris Griffin was dating a girl with Down’s Syndrome. A dangerous territory for comedy to be sure, that turned ugly, when Ellen (the character with Down’s Syndrome) revealed that her mother was the former governor of Alaska. Cue deserved outrage…now!

Family Guy made a valid point. Sarah Palin paints her kid as being so different than all other kids. When in reality, that doesn't help the stigma against those with down syndrome. They aren't that different from other kids.

Well with the exception of being at higher risk of heart defects/disease in later life, intestinal problems, lung infections, eye and ear problems, leukemia and other cancers, and a life expectancy of 50 years or less for 50% of those born with Downs, you are correct.

You mean like how Sarah Palin uses her children to take cheap shots at others? And it's not so much a cheap shot at Palin as it's a "Kids with Downs Syndrome are not all that different. Despite Palin's regular insistence and acting otherwise."

Basically she mentioned during dinner that her mother was the former governor of Alaska.

Later in the episode, Chris realizes how much of a "*****" she is and tells her that she acts no different than any other teenager. She just slightly looks different but it's what on the inside that matters.

It was both. They were DEFINITELY getting comedic value out of portraying her disorder, that was obvious.

The reference to Palin was pretty obscure, if you ask me.

No outrage when they had a scene where stewie shot up a picture of Bush?

No outrage when there was a reference to Bush missing the war when he was in the military?

No outrage when Clinton is regularly spoofed on the show?

You could argue that there's a bit of left leaning bias in the show, but it's not like they don't spread the jokes around to all sides of the aisle.

This particular outrage is ridiculous if you ask me. The show is about as raunchy and offensive as a show can get already. Why anyone would bother hand picking certain jokes at THIS point in the show's existence is beyond me.

We don't watch Family Guy in my house. Never have. My issue with shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy and South Park is that there are many clueless adults out there who think because they are cartoons, they are appropriate for children, when they are NOT. I'm shocked at the number of kids under......say 10, who can quote every line of these shows. Don't get me wrong. I have a healthy bawdy sense of humor.......with other adults, but these shows are not family fair and usually are outrageous for the sake of being outrageous.

to put it simply, the show is for ADULTS who are intelligent enough to make the distinction between comedy and real life.
