Famed economist Larry Summers issues dire inflation warning to Americans after Trump's White House win — 3 ways to help protect yourself in 2025

In my day many had "ice boxes" for refrigerating foods. Lake ice was harvested in the winter for use in the summer. We used to snitch chunks of ice from the back of the ice delivery trucks when they stopped to make deliveries.

You must be over 100 years old. There haven’t been ice boxes since the 1930’s

Like most economists, like most CEOs, like most people in the financial services industry, Summers is horrified by what he's seeing.

People in those professions have to take a cautious, thoughtful, open-minded, non-ideological, informed look at The Big Picture at all times.

Exactly the opposite approach of this President.

Ice was still being delivered in my city in the 1950's.

Late 1940s to the early 1950s

Ice boxes were commonly used in homes until the advent of the electric refrigerator in the 20th century12345. Ice deliveries to homes with ice boxes continued until shortly after the end of WWII, in the late 1940s to the early 1950s1.

We were getting milk delivered by horse drawn wagon during WW2.
