The vast majority of people that believe the narratives that are popular politically, like Global warming are NOT supported by reality.
Two examples.
The USA CO2 emissions contribute to global warming.
FACT:
A) The average tree absorbs 48 lbs of CO2 per year. How Much CO2 Does A Tree Absorb Each Year - Carbon Positive Life
B) In 2014 There are in the U.S. 228 billion trees. How Many Trees In The U.S.? - Green Blizzard
C) The total CO2 emissions of by the USA 5,100,000,000 tons U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) - Ap
So when you multiple 228 billion trees by 48 lbs and then dividing that by 2,000 lbs/ton... equals 5,472,000,000 tons.
Results: There is 372,000,000 more tons of CO2 absorption capacity of the trees! 5.472 billion less 5.100 billion = 372 million tons.

So why haven't we heard this? Seriously. We are doing all sorts of efforts to cut CO2 when:
statistics show that Americans plant approximately 1.6 billion trees every year. Of this number, forest product companies are responsible for planting half of them. Looking at the bright side, we also find out that millions of hardwood trees also regrow naturally. How Many Trees Are Planted Each Year?

Now for the 2nd example.
Attached is a discussion about plastic straws. Remember dozens of governments in the USA have banned plastic straws based on this ONE statement:
That anti-straw movement? It's all based on one 9-year-old's suspect statistic
Here are the facts!
He called manufacturers and asked them how many straws they MADE! Check the below for the two facts that dispute the figure that 500 million straws CONSUMED per day in the USA!
