mRNA research goes back to 1989, with major funding into success done in 2010 (for example a federal grant of $25,000,000 with the first mRNA vaccine tests in 2013. So private industry was well poised to addapt the technicquest to COVID. Trump didn't do jack shit for "create the vaccine" that saved millions of lives.

What he did do was turn over the logistics of development of mass manufacturing, testing, and distribution to Vice President Pence to run operation "Warp Speed".

I give him credit for getting out of the way of real work to be done.
