I don't mind saying that I'm all in favor of giving malcontents a one way ticket to the Progressive mecca of their choice: Cambodia, Cuba, China or Russia, etc.
And what the **** is this supposed to mean? What is great about American government is that we have the freedom to disagree with anything and even everything about our own society without impunity. What was once great about American society was that we respected our neighbors even when they disagreed with us, even when they offered criticisms of our ways. Through criticism we can recognize areas where we need improvement. What drove America to the top of the world was the determination to always overcome and realize continual improvement and development.
People like you are what's wrong with America, what is destroying our country today. You want to be stagnant. You don't want to improve, you want to wallow in the same bath water over and over again. When will you realize that it's not making you clean anymore, you're actually just making yourself even more filthy? Did our founding fathers content themselves to insist that any "malcontents" go live someplace even worse than their own country? Or did they set out to make their country, their government, and their society better? Did we reject Kennedy's challenge to go to the moon as socialist nonsense? Or did American ingenuity step up to the plate to show that not only can we do what they are doing, but we can do it better? Did we turn the tide on the worst war in history by insisting that we do everything the same old way it's always been done? Or did we win because we had the courage to consider and execute new ideas?
If you want to rot in your piss-pot that's your right. This is America. But if you think that people are actually going to sit with you and rot away too, you are sorely mistaken. I know, you're sitting there hoping and praying that America implodes just so that you can say "told you so." But the real patriots will be striving and working for a better tomorrow.
To answer the OP: What makes America the GREATEST, is the fact that her citizens are always determined and pushing to make America GREATER than it is now. Not that our efforts alone define us as the greatest. It's just that our efforts have succeeded moreso than those of others. I really don't care so much whether America was indeed the
greatest country in the world. But as long as we continue to strive to be more than we are now, we'll always be a great nation, one that I will always cherish, and one for which I would never trade any other, no matter what our flaws may be.
