Experts say high food prices are here to stay. Here’s why.

Prices don’t go down, once they’re up they’re up. They might moderate a bit, but they don’t go down.

In a capitalistic economy everything simply goes up and up. And up.

You don't determine what's valuable. Some companies need to drop CEO stock options as part of their pay and distribute the dividends to employees via increased wages.

You need to thank your boy Clinton for the growth in stock option compensation.

That’s true. The MARKET determines what valuable. And low-skill jobs have low value.

As I said, people who don’t like earning minimum wage should crack down on their studies, finish high school, and at a minimum get an A.A. degree or complete a vocational program.

If they are lazy or just plain dumb, they are stuck with minimum wage. Buddy up with another MW worker and rent a modest apartment.

Yeah, but most of IM2's black brothers can barely read.

I'll simply say that there is no such thing as a low-skill job and that if you want maximum output or production, you will not get it by paying a minimum wage. Sure you can pay part-time teenage workers the minimum wage, but once they turn 18 which is considered adult, they deserve to earn adult wages. No full-time worker should be paid less than what it costs to live in their city and state.

I'll simply say that there is no such thing as a low-skill job

You say lots of stupid things. You're a moron.

It takes more skill for me to work my way through that convoluted kiosk ordering screen at McDonald’s with a dozen steps than it does for the worker to carry the tray to my table.

You are a stupid ho. I have run businesses. I have also worked the cash register at McDonalds as a young man. When you run the hourly tape, you discover that McDonalds makes a whole lot of money. In my small town, they made over 1 million per month. In NYC it's probably 10 million per month. So they probably can pay workers 80,000. To live In smaller towns in NY, it won't take 80,000.

Now your way means that working people end up on government assistance. They very assistance your dumb ass barks about as being handouts. You right-wingers are a bunch of IDIOTS.

Revenue isn't profit you stupid ****.

Inflation has steadily cooled over the past two years, despite seeing a slight stall in October and November. Prices for items such as gasoline, used cars and energy have all declined accordingly. However, food prices continue to outpace inflation, increasing by 28% since 2019.

More than 85% of consumers report feeling frustrated with rising grocery prices, and over a third say they have resorted to buying fewer items to save money, according to a 2024 survey by RR Donnelley.

However, experts say high food prices are here to stay.

“Once food price goes up, it tends to stay up,” said Claudia Sahm, a chief economist at New Century Advisors. “The inflation may come back down, so you don’t see the big price increases. But outside of widespread depression, we don’t tend to see prices falling across the board.”

Experts are also skeptical of whether policy intervention can affect food prices.

“There’s really nothing government policymakers could do about this,” said Jason Miller, a professor of supply chain management at Michigan State University.

It is my contention, based on exit polls, that Dotard would not have been re-elected if not for Biden/Harris being successfully, and erroneously, blamed for inflation. Especially food inflation.

Should history hold true, and these economic experts prove correct, I can't help wondering how many millions of sincere but misinformed voters will regret their vote.
An “expert” said prices which have risen “tend” to stay risen.

Oh. Ok. 🙄

anyone got any new pork recipes????..........~S~

Further proof Trump voters are ignorant idiots.

Food prices are high because of corporate greed and gouging, having nothing to do with what President Biden did or didn’t do.

Corporations weren't greedy before Biden? DURR

The problem with these ignorant leftists is- well, one of the problems - is that they think the way to solve all problems is to force some people to give more money to others.

In the case of business owners, the VAST majority are small shops with a few workers, and the owner perhaps nets $100,000 in good years - less in bad. The owner has no income security, took a major risk to start the business, often works 10 or 12 hours a day - and leftists think the owner should give up more of a portion of his income to low-skilled workers who add minimal value.

How the very poor fo is how to measure a nation.

And America gives the poor free medical care, free food, free school lunches, and subsidized housing. That’s a very basic safety net.

People want more than that? Then they need to have the motivation and make the effort to acquire a trade.
