It’s when you are bussed out to your aircraft to board the plane, rather than simply walking onto the plane directly from the airport, usually via a connector known as a jet bridge.

It’s a very common, and yes, very annoying, practice at European airports.

And if you’ve ever wondered, “Why do I have to take a bus to board my plane in Europe?,” then this explainer is for you.

LOL....I knew a former co-worker that got a job driving one of the people movers at Dulles.

He said the easiest way to get the crowd to settle down was to tap the brake and give them a bit of a jolt.....They were quiet as church mice then. ;)

I go on those frequently.

But they are nothing like the bussing at Frankfurt, where the plane is parked on the arse end of nowhere. So you get a scenic tour of the airport, till you reach the terminal. And from there an endless walk to baggage claim.

Have never done that but have had to walk from the terminal out to the plane a few times. Not far, but kind of annoying

The Dulles ones are way cooler.

That thing looks more at home in Atlanta getting filled with goblins. ;)

It’s a regular bus, like you see in towns and cities.

That Dulles contraption only takes a few minutes across the tarmac to immigration.

I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. :eek-52:
