You are right, every problem we have today stems from the politicians working for the benefit of the extended political establishment, AKA "The Swamp" and then giving the bill to the people. This has been going on for so long it has become SOP. Anyone remember way back when the democrat party was anti-establishment and always complaining about the corruption surrounding the pro-establishment republicans? Then came Reagan and the democrats just gave up and said "Me Too!" Then they got greedy and wanted it all. Now it is the GOP complaining about the pro-establishment dumocraps. My guess is after ten years of GOP rule the dumocraps will be sidelined and start complaining about the pro-establishment GOP again.

People mistakenly think the politicians work for us because we vote for them. It's called the Illusion Of Democracy. The true role of all politicians and any government is to protect the rich from the poor. Over time a swamp developed in DC and there was some mission creep by the rich to also have the government work to make them increasingly richer. Everything else is political theater to maintain the Illusion Of Democracy.
