There are several of these around here. They don't have telephones or cell phones, but they do have these to call on some "English" folks to drive them to the stores in town. Those folks who run cab services for the Amish make pretty good money, sometimes a couple hundred bucks a day. And it's all paid in cash.

I love taking the top off and driving through Amish country. Especially in the Spring and Fall.

Their women usually look underfed and overworked. That's probably because they're up at 4 AM to start the fire, cook breakfast and do chores. Some of them smell pretty bad too, in the summer time. I guess they don't take showers every day like we "English" do.

Yeah, i was gonna say about the smell of the dairy/beef farms.

Only Amish women I see are the ones who work the bakery and the meat/salads places.

In the bakery, they're mostly all very young with one or two old timers overseeing the operation.

I always stock up on stuff like apple butter, raw honey and stuff like that. But I always walk out with some of those amazing filled doghnuts, made and baked fresh.

Years ago I asked one of them if I could fish in their pond. They were very polite and let me, and I left em with some. I was just throwing them back in anyway, save for a few.

Why do you have to take your top off?

Knock it off, Crepitus. You know what I'm talking about. I see you over on the C4 board once in a great while.

Those PA country roads in Amish country are darned fine cruising.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Triggered my "punny bone".

I have a shiny little roadster, I know which top you were referring to.

Yeah, I saw you mention that you have some good toys whenever the subject came up. I need another one, too. Well I don't really need one. But you know...

How many hp? 😐
I'll build a minicar that'll smoke it. :auiqs.jpg:
Fuck it, Toyota already did.
I mean, my thing would be smaller & faster, but who cares? :auiqs.jpg:

I thought Amish did no electricity?
POTS is oh geez, Idk..more than 18 volts. :dunno:
I forget.
I worked for a harvesting machine manufacturer in CA that was German Baptist. Much the same as amish. We had to be in the shop at 6 am, but he didn't arrive until 8. That was when the heat came on. He had his own airplane and airstrip and drove a car but he didn't have a TV. The company didn't provide vacation, sick leave or holiday pay either. I didn't stay long.
