It sure looks like reality tapped a few Democrats on the shoulder... 56 of them, in fact... as the House passed a bill to block noncitizens from voting in D.C. elections.

It turns out, even some on the left can spot a political cliff before marching off it. When your own team starts backing the other side to shut down your pet projects, it might be time for a strategy rethink… or at least a map back to common sense.

It is amazing that 148 democrats voted against that bill and 1 voted present. SMH. I think the republicans should introduce a bill to amend the constitution to require US citizenship to vote in ANY MUNICIPAL, STATE OR FEDERAL ELECTION. This is absolutely ridiculous to think that foreigners should have any say at all in the operations of this nation.

Crazy. Maybe R's will get a super-majority in both houses and 3/4's of the state's legislatures in the mids would be a groove.

They need a supermajority and that's a tough go. The left do it easiily, since they pay the Minority (R) leader to cobble together enough (R) votes for them to get a supermajority and (R) senators stay silent.

And then, after passing the 60 vote threshold, they need to ratify it and that action needs 3/4'ths of the 50 State Legislatures and R's have control of 28 state legislatures, Democrats control 18, and 4 are split.

The S.A.V.E. Act, a statutory measure, is a more realistic Republican goal.
