EV Mandates vs freedom - and common sense

Ford has lightning trucks sitting in lots they can't sell at a discount, this is fact
Picture it: Buy a Lighting for next to nothing. Rip out the battery, install a 15kW diesel generator in the bed, wire it in, and haul ass. Put a 60-gallon fuel tank in the bed, too. Buy fuel anywhere.

You are overlooking the EV mandates

Totalitarian greenies in california do not intend to give consumers a choice as they mandate electric cars or nothing

This is something repubs strongly object to

And we dont want to cede ev production to china under any circumstances

I dont want the chinese economy to benefit in any way from trade with America if we can help it
California could be it's own country. And states rights. So if Cali wants to ban gas cars, they can. Can you imagine? You can't go to Wally World unless you have a EV

Say goodbye to paradise

California is losing its edge

Not all at once, but it is happening

Yes it has a lot accumulated wealth to live off of

But not enough to sustain it indefinately

Couldn't you say the EXACT same thing about America? USA is losing it's edge. We have a lot of accumulated wealth to live off of but not enough to sustain us indefinitely.

I think USA and California will be fine. And the rich people who live here/there. It's poor and middle class people who will suffer the fix.

In some ways we might be

People used to say whatever happens in california first will happen in the whole country later

But liberal democrats who are the cause of california’s decline do not rule all of America

So there is still a chance for the rest of us that residents of california dont have

It's not liberals that ruined the middle class. That started when Jack Welch from GE first broke the social contract companies had with their employees. Late 70's. All to maximize profits. Today, workers on average only last at a company 5 years. Hard to save for retirement or raise a kid when you don't have that job security. And so you see today many of us are not having kids. And now that's a problem.

No sir, you are wrong. Liberal Democrats aren't to blame for California. I'm sure the corporations in Cali don't pay their fair share of taxes either. And so what Cali has done was shifted the tax burden more on to you and me.

Think about Tom Cruise. Is he really paying his fair share in taxes in California? He has 600 million dollars.

Tom Cruise has owned several properties in California, including a Beverly Hills mansion and a Hollywood Hills compound:

  • Beverly Hills mansion
A 10,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom estate on 1.21 acres. The property was built in 1937 and included a swimming pool, tennis court, playground, and guesthouses. Cruise and Katie Holmes purchased the home in 2007 for $30.5 million and sold it in 2016 for $40 million.

  • Hollywood Hills compound
A 2.5-acre Tuscan-style estate with a main house, guesthouse, wine cellar, and tasting room. The main house had seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, a vaulted-ceiling living room, and an Italian farmhouse-inspired kitchen. Cruise purchased the property in 2005 for $11.7 million and sold it to Eva Longoria in 2016 for $11.4 million.

  • Kevin Hart
An actor, comedian, and producer with an estimated net worth of $450 million.

  • George Clooney
An actor and director with a net worth of approximately $500 million.

Everyone should pay the same income tax rate

Rich people have more income so they would pay more

But at the same tax rate

And so should the middle class and the poor

One rate for everyone on every dollar of income

How come it's never been done? You guys have been asking for it for years. For some reason they say

a. It won't work
b. Will only benefit rich people more and hurt poor people more than a progressive tax system.

I fear that Lithium battery fires, as they become common and widespread due to traffic accidents, will actually do real damage to the atmosphere and the environment, and it will dwarf any perceived notions of climate change and also nullify any and all potential green gains that are even remotely possible by using an EV.
