All I know is when they were getting bonus unemployment $ during covid and the amount of foodstamps they get went up for a minute, and we weren't evicting people, suddenly the poverty problem was solved. And it cost 1% of what we spend every year. So if we did it right, if we did it better, and the rich paid what they owe, we could solve poverty.

I don't have a problem with minimum wage people getting free healthcare and foodstamps that suppliment their shitty pay.

And solve their rent problem while we are at it.

It's laughable to say the rich pay all the taxes. If you take what we make and add up all the taxes we pay, we pay a much higher percentage of what we make on taxes. The rich don't even come close.

It may be property taxes, sales tax, excise tax, capital gains, etc.

Other Purchase Taxes. User fees are taxes that are assessed on a wide variety of services, including airline tickets, rental cars, toll roads, utilities ...

The poverty problem wasn't solved.

And how does not paying your rent solve poverty?

Republicans promised to MAGA for uneducated blue collar workers. I can't wait to see them do it.

Another solution to poverty is a big strong middle class where there are more jobs than people looking for work. Sort of like under Biden. I know, inflation. But uneducated blue collar workers in unions all got raises that made up for inflation. Google it. And Democrats gave these people free or affordable healthcare. If Republicans can create jobs that offer these people healthcare, that would be a good excuse to end Obamacare.

Hey, as long as you accept the facts. If you admit that the rich dodge taxes, and the amount they dodge could wipe out poverty. But for a lot of reasons, we don't fix this. Could be because the rich and corporations own our government.

Workers and people in poverty don't have a say.

And the funny thing is, if we/they voted for it, they wouldn't be in the situation they are in. So fuck em honestly.

The 90's was the best decade. If you were in poverty, it was because you deserved to be in poverty. You were a slacker. There was plenty of economic opportunities out there. Even without a college degree but even college degrees were affordable.

If I would have went to Ford when I was 17 (I graduated when I was 17. Went to college in September and didn't turn 18 till just before December 1st. So for close to 4 months in college I was Doogie Howser. LOL.) I would have retired 7 years ago with a 30 year pension. Instead I have to work 8-10 more years before I can retire. Ain't that a bitch? And I went to college.

Unions are important to raising wages for workers and building a strong middle class. Trump put an anti union person in charge of our economy. We're in trouble. And this trickles down to the poor. Not tax breaks to Elon

So all these Republicans here deny that the rich aren't paying what they owe. And it adds up to about $1 trillion dollars a year. Whatever the dollar amount is, it's almost exactly what it would take to lift poor people out of poverty.

I forget the number, watch the interview. The guy said if the rich just paid what they owe but don't pay, it adds up to almost exactly what it would take to lift every person in poverty out. And we did it, during Covid. We gave people in poverty bonus unemployment and more foodstamps and it lifted them out of poverty. But instead of us telling our government to continue doing it, and start collecting from the rich what they owe, we cried to end these programs and that Biden was hiring more IRS agents to go after the rich.

Consider this. Trump's going to give the global corporations a HUGE tax break if they bring the money they already owe us back now. They only have to pay taxes on 10% of it. IMAGINE if we demanded they pay 100% of it now or get out of our country. But Trump would never do that.

There are humans that will sabotage everything that is done to help them because that is part of their character. There are people that believe that anything is possible if you just believe hard enough.
Unions outlived their real usefulness years ago. Now it is a way to pay the higher ups not to work along side those that the working fool is paying.
