Elon Musk encouraged to crack open Fort Knox and audit the $425 billion gold reserves inside — and Rand Paul wants to help

“Elon Musk could get a golden audit.

The world’s richest man got encouragement Sunday to bring his cost-cutting Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) into one of the most secure places in the world: Fort Knox.

Sen. Rand Paul called for a review of the vault’s massive gold reserves — worth an estimated $425 billion based on market rates — in response to the tech mogul’s musings about the stash.

Musk, 53, drew attention to a user who asked him to “take a look inside Fort Knox just to make sure the 4,580 tons of US gold is there.”

Doesn’t seem like they even talk about Fort Knox any more. I would love to see this audit take place.

Musk is a looter. Where are the Objectivists hiding There was a time when you couldn’t escape Ayn Rand fans on the internet. She wouldn’t have had anything good to say about Elon, but from the libertarian side…, crickets!

What is now inside Fort Knox...........

$425B? I get over $13T? If that’s the kind of math DOGE is doing, don’t expect your tax return any time soon.

STORY SO FAR

The last so-called audit of Fort Knox took place in 1974. It was nothing more than a staged media stunt. A select group of officials was allowed inside, shown only a small portion of the vault, and then told to accept that everything was in order. No comprehensive inventory was conducted. No independent experts were involved.

NO TESTING TO CHECK THAT STOCK HAD NOT BEEN TAMPERED WITH .

Previously audited in 1953 but no testing of individual bars .

Since 1974 , every attempt to conduct a real audit has been blocked. Every request for transparency has been denied. The Federal Reserve and the U.S. Treasury have ensured that Fort Knox remains a mystery, untouchable and unseen.

This level of secrecy does not normally exist without reason. If the gold is really there, why hide it? Why refuse to allow an audit?

My guess is that the correct number of bars are there but I would need proof they were all 100% Gold .

If incredibly the stock was way below estimate or even zero , the dire effects need calculating on two bases , imho :-

That Trumpfy is Deep State .
And that he is not .

Either way any shortfall would be appalling news for the US and the world, via domino effect .
And then you would need to assess Trumpfy's true motivation for revealing bad / disastrous news . On the assumption he knew the truth in advance .

I think Rand fans need to dust off their copies of Atlas Shrugged. How can Elon be a hero of libertarian MAGA, when any honest reading of the magnum opus of Objectivism would brand Elon as a looter? How is that Fake News?

$425B is from the New York Post, not DOGE. Context matters.

What exactly is your problem with auditing the government?

Whatever! Bad math is bad math and you didn’t catch it! We should care about your opinion, why?
? LOL

Ok, state your case. Where is your 13T number from? Why should we care about your opinion?

“So how much gold is there? The U.S. has 147.3 million ounces stored at Fort Knox in Kentucky. Based on current prices of just under $2,950 an ounce, that is worth about $435 billion.”

The quoted post said 4,580 TONS of gold. Which is it, ounces or tons?

It’s both Einstine. There are 32,000 ounces in a ton. It’s just different units of measurement for the same amount of gold.

It’s still not clear where your 13T number came from……

“According to the U.S. Mint, Fort Knox contains about 147.3 million troy ounces of gold, or 4,581 tons, equivalent to half of the Treasury's total stored gold. With gold valued at just under $2,900 per troy ounce, according to the foreign exchange service Xe, the gold in Fort Knox could be worth up to $426.3 billion.”

But is this all high level bluff?

Only 50% of reserves are held at Fort Knox -- Mint/ Treasury report .

Where is the other 50% ? Plus all the same other questions ?

That is , are the Fort Knox age -old yarns a Deflection ?
Get me Elon on thephone . Now .

My Conspiracy Thought idea for the day

So, I am guessing you came up with “13T” by fumbling both your reading comprehension and math. It looks like you read that as 147 million tons, not ounces. Even then, the gold in Fort Knox would actually be worth $13 quadrillion dollars.

What were you saying about “bad math” and caring about people’s opinions?
