Jesse Jackson was quoted in the NY Times:
"There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps... then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved. "
It was an intellectually honest admission that Jackson knew he was far more likely to be attacked by a black man than by a white man. At least in some neighborhoods.
I am not the least bit afraid of my neighbors who happen to be black or any other race/ethnicity. They're all good, decent people.
I would probably feel differently if I lived in another area of town where violent gangs operate.
