CDZ Elephants born with no TUSKS after decades of brutal poaching in Africa, researchers say

Selective breeding moves quickly. DOBERMAN, made an iconic breed of dog, with specific traits in under 30 years. Yeah... It can happen fast...

That doesnt change the fact that the female is going to be more attracted to the male with the biggest tusks just like the female lion is more attracted to the male lion with the best looking mane.

And when neither are present..? She'll throw down, and let seed, be sown...

If the big bulls with big tusks are dead she will still breed with a male who has small tusks or no tusks.

This is how man changes the nature of the beast.

Sometimes it's done intentionally and sometimes it's done unintentionally.

When I was young we had a young heifer that my father was going to keep and add to the herd. When she got to be a little over a year old she started jumping fences just like a deer. That heifer was gone before she could teach the other cattle the trick or, if it was genetic, to pass that gene on.

That IS evolution.... adaptation for survival. When you removed bull elephants with large tusk from the gene pool you have elephants born without tusks or with very small tusks.
That’s exactly right. It’s no different then a natural predator killing any species with a particular characteristic leaving the survivors to become those with a more dominant characteristic that is more likely passed on. It happens all the time when species with outer markings that help blend with their surroundings survive more readily.

We have been doing this in more humane ways by selective animal breeding for centuries by simply isolating species with chacteristics we then prefer to become more dominant.

From the article; it doesn't really sound like general evolution, but more like selective breeding, or animal husbandry. And that type of breeding program, can produce rapid results. Just look at dogs. A new breed can be made in a human lifetime.
Selective breeding IS using the evolution tendencies that exist in all species. Humans have been doing this to animals both humanely and not for centuries. All species that interact play into each others evolution. We are no different. Look at AGW. We are controlling the evolution of species at a more rapid pace.

I find this a bit hard to believe.
It takes thousands of years for that kind of change to happen.
This is another case of desperate evolutionists trying to concoct proof of a genetic change that doesn't exist. There's no question that poaching has had an effect on the elephant population but it stands to reason that a genetic anomaly that has always existed gave the tuskless elephants a greater chance to reproduce than the tusked elephants. This is no proof of anything but more intellectual condescension and dishonesty from a sector that has already suffered badly in that area.

Evolution is a non-stop process, it is not huge leaps and bounds, it is small changes. More and more humans are being born without wisdom teeth due to the fact we no longer need them and end up taking them out of most humans
Changes made to an organism during its lifetime have no effect on its genetic inheritance or its genetic bestowal. Lysenko was the last vested scientist who worked on the Stalin making that claim. Stalin like him because according to lysenko you could change the genetic habits of a population and have them pass those changes on to their children. That of course is pure garbage.

The creaton science cretons are arguing that an alligator cannot become a puppy.

My God, you're dumb.

Poachers have slaughtered big bull elephants with big tusks for many decades.. They have been eliminated from the gene pool.

Nothing amazing here. They killed 90% of the population and only the ones with tusks. Of course the trait that survives will be more more common after that culling. Akin to selective breeding, as others have said.
