New York had a lot of socialist policies already. Employees in favored employment do well. Those others not so good. The favored employment though affects the costs of everything. If it services government in any way possible, it takes from the city coffers and leaves less for rebuilding, renovating and building new infrastructures.

It's hard to believe Republicans 'got smashed' in New York City when they traded a bad Democrat for a worse one. New Yorkers got 'smashed' but only because they allowed that to happen.

But yes, Democrats have become the party of organized violence. They not only do not condemn but they actually condone burning Teslas and Tesla dealerships, arson, vandalism, destruction, rioting, blocking businesses, streets, roads, bridges, terrorizing, assaulting, battering, murdering citizens to demonstrate political outrage.

No they don't you say? I have yet to see any leftist in New York or elsewhere, here on USMB condemn any of that. They tear down statues and other symbols of our historical heritage and erect statues of the likes of George Floyd. They condemn a football player who publicly prays/gives thanks to God but cheer and defend hose who disrespect the National Anthem and flag and thereby spit in the face of American veterans and patriots.

MAGAS/Patriots/Republicans exercise their constitutionally protected right to express their opinions and are accused by the left of being Nazis/fascist when they do, but they do not riot and destroy and terrorize when things don't go their way. And I'm pretty sure they would be quick to condemn anyone from their ranks who did that.
