MINNEAPOLIS, Jan 27 (Reuters) - A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent tried to get into Ecuador's consulate in Minneapolis on Tuesday but was prevented from entering the premises by consulate staffers, the country's Foreign Ministry said.

The attempted entry prompted the Foreign Ministry to send a "note of protest" to the U.S. Embassy in Quito, the Ecuadorean capital, demanding such incidents "not be repeated," the ministry said in a statement.

The statement carried a headline referring to the incident as an "attempted incursion into the Ecuadorean Consulate in Minneapolis by ICE agents."

It said the consulate staff members' actions to prevent ICE entry ensured the protection of Ecuadorean nationals who were in the building at the time.

This was an attempt to usurp sovereignty of diplomatic mission. ICE had no business attempting to enter this consulate, regardless the country it represents. This was totally bone headed move.

How illegal Ecuadorian aliens currently are usurping our sovereignty every day? Why no concern about that?
The "rules" concerning embassies, diplomatic immunity, that type of thing, have been around for hundreds of years. In no small way, they are like manners. They help society function more efficiently. Look, you don't get any bonus points for violating those norms, you just don't.

What that INS agent did was an act of war, plain and simple, and should be treated accordingly. Can some government "agent" storm into the US embassy in France? I don't think so.

He went away when asked to go away.

"Storm"?

Using Rogue AI's twisted, MAGA MAGGOT logic, Mexican Immigrations Forces can enter the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City and get away with it. How would he feel then?

This is yet another example of the criminal Trump regime's contempt for the rule of law.

They could try. They may not like the response. This is more liberal drama queen nonsense. The agents left when asked. You fail to mention the relevant point that ICE was pursuing suspects. More of your hero child rapists perhaps? We know you liberals love those folks.

This is the very sort of thing that destroys the birthright citizenship argument. If these criminals can flee ICE to an embassy or consulate they are not under the jurisdiction of the United States.

I encourage the Consulate of Ecuador to take in as many illegals as possible and house, feed, and clothe them at the expense of the citizens of Ecuador; especially if the Consulate is engaging in activities to obstruct US Immigration Law Enforcement efforts.

I would fall out my chair, ROTFLMAO if Mexican Immigration Officers tried to enter the U.S Embassy in Mexico City.

There aren't a lot of illegal American immigrants in Mexico fleeing Mexican immigration officers in Mexico City, so...

15th post
To be fair, clearly the belligerent, ignorant ICE agent didnt know any better.

This is a 37-Second Clip (unedited) of an ICE THUG trying to enter the Ecuadoran Consulate. This is the strictest sense of the an armed invasion of foreign country by the U.S. The Consulate is Ecuadoran Soil.

I will wait for the other side to comment before jumping to any conclusion as there is two sides to this story and only one has been reported that i could find. Not cool if there wasn't a legit reason.
