Does this include Vietnam War Era veterans as well?

Yes, Vietnam War Era veterans are included in this recognition. The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 designates March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day, honoring all veterans who served during the Vietnam War era, which spans from November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975. This includes those who served in Vietnam as well as those who served elsewhere during that time.

I was contacted by a private group here in Burley. They not only gave me a pin, but also beautiful blanket.

The nation should apologize to them.

In May of 1975 I was going thru HT"A" school. Because of that I wasn't qualified to wear the National Defense ribbon. I later earned it during Desert Storm.

I doubt if I would accept one. I served in the US Army from 1971-1974 but was stateside the whole time.

Those who actually served in Vietnam are more deserving.

We didn't lose. The press used public opinion to force us to abandon Vietnam.
It was just like Afghanistan, but on a larger scale.

The press is filled with leftists who never want to see America win another war.

My brother was a civilian military advisor in Vietnam in the 60s and even got wounded while serving there, but he gets nothing. Not even a Purple Heart.

The VC cheated. They were good at using terrorist tactics against the cities and villages in the South, like putting bombs in market places and systematically-murdering village chiefs and other civilians who tried to oppose them. They also tortured prisoners, which is against the Geneva Convention.

That's messed up. The Vietnam War was winding down while I was in there. President Nixon was focusing more on dealing with the spread of Communism in Central and South America, and drugs coming across the border from Mexico. We continued to train Airborne Rangers in the use of artillery strikes, but I do remember seeing an increasing number of South and Central American military personnel showing up at Ft. Benning.

So were you in 5th Group or with the Ranger Batt?

That's how my brother was wounded. Booby-trap.

If we fight like America we will lose... so we must fight like Vietnamese.
