I am a vet too, and one that depends on the VA to help me due to my physical ailments. What has happened is that due to Trump's cuts, the VA has had to cut a lot of staff and when I go to the VA, the waiting period to talk to the doctors has expanded from 30 minute-to-1-hour, to now having to wait 2 hours or more. There is less help available, given that there is less staff. Calling the VA and trying to reach a department, has also increased dramatically. When I try to reach the operator and ask to be transferred to a department, I am put on hold for 10-15 minutes, just to talk to the operator, and when finally transferred, the nurse of the doctor also puts he on hold for another 10-15 minutes.

As far as the VA, I have not been hurt economically because of Trump, but I have been hurt time-wise. I spend more time now just trying to contact the VA than ever before.
