It's like we live in a virtual world where even topics as breath takingly horrific as this can just be ignored. The article did not make it clear what the transmissibility rate was nor if humans would be as subject to the mortality rate as the mice, but IF this thing was highly transmissible AND had an 80% CFR, THAT is feckin' ARMAGEDDON... There would be no stopping it and it would solve our overpopulation issue in a year or less
