Donovan appreciation thread

Donovan got trapped in a hippie esthetic and style that he couldn't or wouldn't get out of.
While he was one of the musicians that came to India to commune with the Maharishi others like
John Lennon were able to grow out of that phase but Donovan largely did not and rightly or wrongly
has was widely identified with it.

While still living in the San Francisco area I watched Donovan come by to play clubs and promote new records
but the music scene just wasn't having any at that point (2004).

His songs like Atlantis and Hurdy Gurdy Man (about the Maharishi) and Season of the Witch were all
brilliant and among my favorites to this day.

He indeed was the real deal. And it cost him.
By the 80s, "hippie shit" wasn't appreciated anymore. Folky music wasn't either.
Donovan refused to change, and had no interest in recording anything else. And he faded fast.

All faded after awhile. Time changes things.
