I mentioned elsewhere that, in all my years in the profession, I never saw pros questioning the numbers being reported. Never like this. It was never a concern, outside of being aware of possible revisions after the fact.

But there are serious, experienced people looking at the current reported numbers sideways right now. Things aren't adding up.

The numbers may turn out to be right, but now the whole world knows we can't be trusted. Trump & Co clearly has no understanding of how critical trust is in economic markets. Or global economic or security relationships, for that matter.
